Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to all the teachers for everything they do and their continuous hard work and dedication throughout the year!

In Ms. Prucka's High School English Class, the students learned what themes and topics are earlier in the unit. Now the students are collaborating together to teach what these terms are by creating an "academic poster." Within the poster, the students are teaching the definitions, examples, how the theme develops throughout a text, and how to determine a theme.

Super Hero Food Service Workers!!! Between preparing delicious food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Glenwood school nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. Last Friday we celebrated all their hard work and commitment. This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to nearly 30 million of America’s students each school day.
School nutrition employees must balance many roles and follow numerous federal, state and local regulations to ensure safe and healthy meals are available in schools. School Lunch Hero Day provides the opportunity for the community to thank these hardworking heroes for their dedication to fueling our students for success.
Federal nutrition standards ensure that school cafeterias always offer low-fat or fat-free milk, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. School meals also meet limits on calories, sodium and unhealthy fats. The importance and nutritional value of school meals are well documented. For many children, school lunch is the most important and nutrient-rich meal of their day.

Hello Glenwood!
One last chance to shop at the Scholastic book fair and stock up on summer reading!
Join us Friday, April 28th at Northeast Elementary's library from 3:00 to 6:00 pm for our BOGO book fair!

Congratulations to Chelsea Vang and Addison Mitchell for winning Iowa Art All-State. All Juniors and Seniors are eligible to enter, but only about seven percent are judged to become All-State. You have to enter a portfolio of ten pieces of original work and write on three different subjects that relate to your work.
A special Congratulations to Addison Mitchell, she is the first person from Glenwood to win her Junior and Senior year, back-to-back champion! When entering, if you win your junior year you can not use any of your previous work if you enter your senior year, so you have to come up with a new portfolio of work.

Mrs. Yates and Mrs. Diekmann's ELA classes took the day to "Glow What You Know!" During their ELA blocks students reviewed skills/played games to prepare and relax before ISASP testing next week.

In a week full of ISASP testing, Mr. Miller’s 8th grade class got to spend a little time outside enjoying the nice weather this week. While outside, they read part of their latest novel study book together. This is the third novel study this group of students has done this year. They are currently reading the second graphic novel in a two-part series for “The Graveyard Book”. It was a great afternoon combining reading and the great outdoors!

On Tuesday night, Northeast Early Childhood Center participated in the Festival of Young Children at the YMCA. It was wonderful to see so many community resources that support young children in our community.
