The 1st annual Skilled Trades Career Fair will be held Thursday, March 21st at GHS.

The goal of this event is to connect western Iowa employers with local students to inspire future education and career decisions. We are hosting for our students and for surrounding schools for this event.

iJAG

  • The event is hosted by Iowa Jobs for America's Graduates (iJAG) students, iJAG is a statewide nonprofit organization that delivers in-school career education and employer engagement in partnership with Iowa school districts.
  • Successful participation by employers and local school districts will result in continued events every year as a way to ensure workforce needs are being supported.
  • Employer participation can help build talent pipelines and fill immediate and long-term employment needs that includes apprenticeships, on-the-job training and more.
  • Interested employers and school districts can register for next year by contacting Shawn Shea, Education Specialist at iJAG, via  sheasha@glenwoodschools.org.
  • Trades will be on display in our main gym and auditorium parking lot from 9am to 2pm. Students will visit the trades fair during the school day.

March Madness Dress up Days: March 18-22

Monday- Adam Sandler Day

Tuesday- BBQ Dads v Soccer Mom Day

Wednesday- Anything but a Backpack Day

(See Guidance Below)

Advice on carrying devices – You must be able to carry it up the stairs (elevators will be reserved for handicap, injured, and authorized purposes only).  You have to be able to get to class on time.  The items should be clean. Respect teacher directions –for example, keeping wheels/carts off gym floors and following expectations if you need to leave an item outside a teacher’s classroom due to space. When in doubt, ask for prior approval from an administrator. Note: if the “backpack” becomes unmanageable or a distraction, it may be parked by or left with the main office until the end of the school day.

Thursday- Teacher v Student day (teachers dress like students and vise versa)

Friday- Glenwood Spirit Day

Friday Morning is SUPER PANCAKES for all students, followed by Senior Breakfast!!! Seniors will then go to the gym to practice their dances and prepare for our Pep Rally. Senior parents are invited to attend senior breakfast (bringing additional breakfast items) and staying to attend the Pep Rally.

The cost to get in is $3 for students and $5 for adults.  No passes will be accepted.  Seniors playing and performing have free entry.

Save the Date: ISASP Testing will be April 16th-19th at GHS. We encourage good school attendance during this time. Students will report to classes in the morning at 8am, followed by classes beginning at 10am. Seniors will not attend during the testing window but are expected to attend their regular classes per the bell schedule.

Leading up to ISASP testing week, we will be doing the following:

Having an all school assembly, sharing with students their prior year’s performance, setting goals for improvement, and talking about our schedule and ISASP rewards program.

The following data represents how Glenwood HS compared last year to the H10 with the number of students achieving advanced and proficient levels on state ISASP testing.
