About GHS

Welcome to Glenwood High School. The High School serves approximately 600 students in grades 9-12 from the communities of Glenwood, Mineola, Pacific Junction, Silver City and the surrounding area.  With 40 classroom teachers the high school has a 15 to 1 teacher to student ratio.  At Glenwood High School, we seek to be RAMS United in emphasizing Respect, striving to Achieve and improve, Making an effort, and Serving others.

In order to foster 21st Century Skills, students have access to 1:1 Chromebook devices to utilize for all of their academic coursework.  Beyond the opportunities students have in core classes, we offer many elective classes in the areas of Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Science, Agriculture, Industrial Arts, Family and Consumer Sciences, Business, and Fine Arts.  Students also have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement courses either in the classroom or online.  We also partner with the local community college to deliver courses for college credit.  Over the past 5 years, more than half of each graduating class has earned college credit while still in high school.

Glenwood is part of the Hawkeye 10 Conference and competes in 15 sports at the Freshman, JV, and Varsity levels.  In the area of Fine Arts, students can be involved in speech, visual arts, and a number of ensembles in both instrumental and vocal music.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of clubs, organizations, and activities.  Over 75% of the GHS student body participates in at least one of the above activities.
