Monday, March 11, 2024

Dear Parent and Student and Educator,

Monday – Thursday are regular bell schedule days.  Friday, there is no school.

Reminder: Phones are not to be used in the classroom, nor out and visible when not in use. They should be stored in the designated classroom location or in a backpack. If time remains in a class period or RAMS time, students should work on other practice work or read an independent reading book.

High school conferences continue on Thursday, March 14th this week and will be held virtually.  Should you have a need for an email, phone, or in person meeting rather than a virtual conference, please reach out to your student’s teachers regarding scheduling.

News: Please see Mr. Bissen’s Weekly AD Email for updates to activities schedules/events.

High School Announcements; Congratulations to students who made Semester 1 Honor Rolls!

Save the Date: ISASP Testing will be April 16th-19th at GHS. We encourage good school attendance during this time. A bell schedule will be shared within an upcoming newsletter. Students will report to classes in the morning at 8am, followed by classes beginning at 10am. Seniors will not attend during the testing window but are expected to attend their regular classes per the bell schedule.

Students of the Week: Congratulations to our recognized Students of the Week who exemplify our RAMS role model behaviors of Respect, Achieve and Improve, Make an Effort and Serve Others!

A special shout out to our speech students: A patron at a restaurant in Stuart, Iowa emailed Dr. Embray and I about how incredibly impressed she was with our students who were traveling back from the State Speech Tournament. The patron said, “These students were delightful representatives of your district and of the best of young adults. It was a pleasure visiting with them. They have a bright future ahead. Obviously, the Glenwood school district is doing a lot of things well. My congratulations to their accomplishments and their behaviors as young adults! Sincerely, Lisa Berg of St. Paul Mn.

Thank you RAMS for being good representatives of Glenwood Schools!

This is not the first time, positive words have traveled back to me this school year of our fine young students.  Excellence is not demonstrated in single isolated moments; rather, it is what we repeatedly do and how we show up each and every day.  I challenge you this week to think about your daily habits and daily interactions; how are you showing up and positively influencing those around you?

Read Across America: Thank you Mrs. Loeffelbein and Reach SADD Students for promoting reading and visiting elementary students in our district to read to them! We are so lucky to have such wonderful students at the high school who participate in community service and leadership activities.
