1/2/24 Principal Newsletter

Dear Parent and Student and Educator,

School resumes for students this week Jan. 3rd.  This is a regular school day (no early dismissal).

The next early out Wednesday is on Jan. 10th. Jan. 12th is the end of 1st semester, followed by a no school day on Jan. 15th. Semester 2 begins on January 16th. See our school calendar here.

Reminders:

Students have 10 days following feedback from a teacher to engage in reteaching and reassessment.  Students are to follow teacher posted and communicated deadlines for reassessment.

In order to reassess, students need to have completed essential practice work.

As we head into the new year of 2024, it is important that students commit themselves to positive habits of doing daily work assigned by the teacher, not “waiting to try and pass” the first attempt at an outcome without doing essential practice. While practice is not “calculated” it certainly “counts” and matters in terms of performance results, reassessment eligibility, and optimum learning. Timely practice work completion allows for teachers to provide timely and specific feedback for support and enrichment of each student; which is the ultimate purpose of practice (homework).

Students with unpassed outcomes will be eligible for credit recovery in summer school. More information will be shared in upcoming principal newsletters.
