PSAT

PSAT/NMSQT® (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be on Monday, October 30, 2023. This is an important test that provides many benefits that can help along the path to college.  If you are a junior, the PSAT/NMSQT offers the opportunity to enter competitions for scholarships that can help pay for college.  For both sophomores and juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT is also great practice for the SAT®.  You also get personalized feedback on your performance to help improve your skills before taking the SAT.  In addition, students receive free college planning tools to help them start their college search and feedback on the types of AP courses for which they may be particularly well prepared.  Taking these college-level classes can help students earn college credit while still in high school and provide them with a competitive advantage in the college admission process.  For more information about the PSAT/NMSQT, visit psat.org
The PSAT is offered to all:
9th Grade students in advanced math courses (Geometry or above).  Helps identify your present level of performance.
10th grade students.  Helps to see which AP courses you are most likely to do well in.
11th grade students.  Take this and meet other program requirements specified in the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide and enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  Registration form and fee must be submitted prior to taking the test.  Please pay $18 by cash or check payable to GCHS. Students on free/reduced lunch will receive a fee waiver.
If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Paulina Rodenburg.
Signup and payment deadline:  Friday, October 13, 2023.
