Join us in celebrating SEL Day on March 8, 2024 and the work that our GCSD Social Emotional Liaisons do to support students and families in our district. Social and emotional learning is important in cultivating self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. Thank you Miss Hansen, Mrs. Briley, Mrs. Tadin, and Miss Burgess for contributing to the success of our students!

MS March Madness Tonight! Come watch the 8th grade basketball players play against GCSD staff in the middle school gym. Doors open at 5:30pm and tip off is at 6:00pm.

SEL fosters a positive sense of identity and confidence along with real-world social skills! 💡

Congratulations to Mr. Spieler's first hour class for winning Round 3 of the Middle School's Attendance Challenge. GCMS is recognizing first hour classes with outstanding daily attendance every two weeks to motivate students to attend schools.

On Tuesday, the Revenue Purpose Statement on the ballot for Glenwood CSD fell a little short of being approved by voters.
We know this result is not a reflection of the support of our community for our schools. Rather, the RPS renewal simply was not a good fit at this time.
The Board of Education and administration will look for alternative solutions to address our facility needs, and we will seek the community’s input and engagement as we move forward with this process.
Thank you for your consideration of the measure on the ballot.
Welcome Sonia!

The Glenwood Community School District receives more than $2.5 million annually in statewide one-cent sales tax funds (SAVE) to support facility improvements and other projects.
On Tuesday, March 5, our community will consider renewing the Revenue Purpose Statement to allow the district to leverage future SAVE dollars to support programs like Kids Place, THRIVE, and more.
A renewed RPS will not increase property taxes, affect the sales tax, or create a new tax.

Five Glenwood Middle School TAG Robotics teams participated in the 2024 Iowa State Robotics Competition. The TAG Robotics team consisting of Brecken Abbott (8th. grade), Wyatt Bencker (7th. grade), Lyric Lundvall (7th. grade), Logan McDaniel (7th. grade), and Kolton Thompson (7th. grade) earned the VEX Robotics Excellence Award, which qualifies them to go to the VEX Worlds Championship in Dallas, Texas at the end of April! This team is the Top All-Around Team (Robot Performance and Judged) in the state of Iowa! The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics competition. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a high-quality robotics program. This team is a strong contender in numerous award categories.
The TAG Students created and programmed robots, and documented work in engineering notebooks. Robotics encourages curiosity, creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving among groups. TAG Students were provided with exciting robotics challenges that enhance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centered learning. Students observed how the robot performed, questioned why the robot performed as it did, and troubleshot the program using the information gathered. Robotics prepares students for a technological future.
