Ms. Jones using a number rack with students to practice finding the missing number in addition equations. Students use their own created with beads. Number racks (also known as rekenreks) facilitate the natural development of children’s number sense.

Mrs. Benson's First Grade Students work hard on phonics using manipulatives that represent each sound (phoneme) they hear in a word. This strengthens students' phonological awareness. A strong foundation in phonological awareness prevents reading difficulties later.
