From the Principal's Desk, November

West Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for your participation in Parent/Teacher conferences.  Parents and the school working as a team is a HUGE factor in any students’ success.  If you were not able to attend in October, your child’s teacher should have already reached out to you.  If you have not rescheduled your missed conference, please call the office and we will get that done for you!

We will be starting up K Kids (the kid version of Kiwanis) in December  and plan to have a food drive here at West again. Last year we collected more than a bus full of food.  This is one of the BIGGEST drives that supports the Mills County Storehouse.   Details will be coming soon, but we will be accepting food from Nov. 29 - Dec. 10. Please make sure food donated is non-perishable and not expired.  Our storehouse depends on your generosity, so thank you so much in advance!!!!

We will have indoor recess when the daily temperature starts to drop, but I want to remind you to have your students dress for the weather.  In the past we have had students taking short walks around the playground to make sure they get fresh air during the day and this will be as important as ever this year with the amount of time students stay in their classroom. Please call school if you need help getting your student/s winter ready!

Thank you - as always - for sharing your children with us!!!!

A few things to remember:

  • Drop off time at West is 7:45am.  At this time in the morning we have supervision outside the main doors.  Students showing up before this time are unsupervised outside.
  • Please be sure to send refillable water bottles with your student/s. We now have several stations around the building that everyone can use to safely get more water during the day.
  • Watch Dog  is coming back to West and NE.  Please see this link for details. WD Flyers.pptx  Please be watching for more information coming via School Messenger prior to December 1.
