October Northeast Newsletter
Northeast Friends and Family,
Good evening! We want to thank all of the families that helped make the Homecoming parade such a success! We hope that you all were able to enjoy the parade and we were thrilled to be able to have a more normal experience than last year. Below you will find a few reminders to make sure that we have a successful October. Hard to believe that the first quarter will be over on Oct. 26th. We look forward to seeing everyone for parent teacher conferences in a few weeks.
Early out Wednesdays (dismissal begins at 1:00): October 6, 13, 27
Parent Teacher Conferences 4pm - 8pm October 19th, 21st
No School: October 22, 2021
October Events and changes this year:
Halloween: Please remember this year that our treat policy has changed and will be in effect for the party. This year, our parties will still need to look different than they have in the past due to our continued concern with Covid. We want to keep everyone in the loop as to our plans for the Halloween parties this year.
- We will not be able to have a costume parade and will not be able to help all students with costumes. We understand that this is a huge disappointment, so this year we will be having an ALL SCHOOL PAJAMA DAY on Friday Oct. 29th.
- No adults will be able to attend the fall party, however parents are welcome to send a simple activity or game that students can participate in during the day. Remember that it is only the teacher with 20 students so low maintenance crafts, activities or games are appreciated. Please check with your child’s teacher if you would like to donate either of those items.
- Any treats will need to be individually wrapped and peanut safe.
Parent Teacher Conferences: Parent teacher conferences this fall will be offered in person or virtually. Teachers will be reaching out to parents next week in order to schedule these conferences. If you choose a virtual conference, those will be held using Google Meet, or via phone calls. Please be watching for emails from your child’s teacher next week to schedule these conferences. All specials teachers will also be available from 4 until 8pm on Oct 19th or the 21st. If you would like to schedule a time with them please email those teachers directly, or call the school and we will direct you to their voicemail to get a time arranged.
Northeast Book Fair: We are excited to once again offer an in person Book fair this year. The book fair will run from October 13 - 21st. Parents can start shopping online here on Oct. 13th. The inperson book fair will be open in the Northeast Library on Oct 19th and 21st from 4:30pm - 8pm each night.
A few things to Remember:
Eating Lunch with your student: We recognize that eating lunch with your student is a special time and we want to ensure that we can do this safely. We encourage you to come for your students' Birthday or Half Birthday.
Illness: If your child is feeling ill, or has symptoms of Covid 19 we ask that you please keep your child home. Remember to call the office, or fill out the online absentee form before 8:30am if your child is sick, or being quarantined.
Water bottles: Water fountains will still be closed this year, however we do have water bottle fillers so please remember to send a water bottle with your student so they have access to water throughout the day. The water fountains are no longer available so it is important to send a water bottle with your child.
Change in Transportation: Please remember if you need to change your child’s after school plans please call the office prior to 2pm. If the change is in regards to bussing you also need to call the transportation office as well at: 712-527-4116.
Clothes needed: We would like to encourage all parents to be sure and send an extra set of clothes in your students backpack in case of accidents. Our clothing supply this year is very limited and we can not always guarantee correct sizes for students if an accident does occur. If anyone would like to donate children's size (4T - 6x mainly) boys and girls underwear we would appreciate it.
Food from home: Please remember that we are a peanut safe school. This means that any food brought into the school must be peanut free.
