Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

The Middle School is in the process of implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)  PBIS is a process for creating school environments that are more predictable and effective for achieving academic and social goals which should change our school culture for the better.

Respectful
  • In the hallway, we are courteous to others, use appropriate language and voice level, and keep my hands and feet to myself
  • In the cafeteria, we are courteous to staff and students, wait to be dismissed, walk, stand in a single file line and wait my turn.  We will use appropriate language and table manners.
  • In the restroom, we will respect the privacy of others, keep our hands and feet to ourselves, use appropriate voice level, and respect the restroom posters and property.
  • At recess, we will show kindness in actions and words.  We will include others, follow the rules of the game, be safe, and keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
  • In the library, we will enter and exit with a zero voice, use appropriate responses to adults and peers, refrain from talking to other students, and keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
  • In the classroom, we will use appropriate voice level, enter the classroom appropriately, always walk, keep our hands and feet to ourselves, and be kind.
  • At an assembly, we will maintain a zero voice unless otherwise instructed and keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
  • In the Office, we will be courteous to others, use appropriate language and a respectable voice level, and wait patiently for our turn.
Accountable
  • In the hallway, we avoid negative situations and maintain personal space.  We will keep to the right side of the hallway and carry belongings and materials appropriately.  We tell an adult when a hallway incident happens.
  • In the cafeteria, we will empty our trays, throw away trash, keep all food and drink in the cafeteria, and ask permission to leave our seats.
  • In the restroom, we use the restroom appropriately, flush, wash with soap and water, dry, and place trash in the trash can.  We will use the closest restroom to our location unless otherwise directed.
  • At recess, we will report bullying, inappropriate behavior, or if someone is hurt to an adult.  We will listen and follow directions and be within site of a recess supervisor at all times.
  • In the library, we handle the material appropriately and return or renew materials in a timely manner.
  • In the classroom, we will follow expectations and routines for learning and behavior, let others learn, use materials appropriately, and stay in our seats unless otherwise directed.
  • At and assembly we will sit quickly, quietly, and remain seated.  We will use the stairs to enter and exit the bleachers.
  • In the office, we will accept responsibility for our actions and the consequences that follow.
Motivated
  • In the hallway, we are aware of our surroundings, walk forward with the purpose of making a timely transition between classes, and greet others appropriately.
  • In the cafeteria, we will keep clean, pick up trash even if it is not our own, and invite others to our conversation.

  • At recess, we will participate in physical activity and have good sportsmanship
  • In the library, we will use our time wisely
  • In the classroom, we will use manners when speaking to teachers and peers, be prepared and organized, advocate for ourselves, and will do/try our best.
  • At an assembly, we will maintain eye contact with the speaker, be an active listener and focus on the message being delivered, and we will participate.
  • In the office, we will give an appropriate response to adults and use manners.

  • We are successful because we are respectful, accountable, and motivated in the Hallway.  This is the RAMS WAY!
  • We are successful because we are respectful, accountable, and motivated in the Cafeteria.  This is the RAMS WAY!
  • We are successful because we are respectful, accountable, and motivated in the Restroom.  This is the RAMS WAY!
  • We are successful because we are respectful, accountable, and motivated in the Recess.  This is the RAMS WAY!
