2021-22 Welcome Back to the High School
Welcome back to all our GHS families. We are geared up and ready to see students on Aug 24th. We have had a productive summer of learning and taken time to relax and refresh for the new school year. We will do our best to send out information once a week in this newsletter format so families can stay connected with high school news and events. We are looking forward to a great year and can’t wait to see students on the first day.
Freshman/New Student Orientation:
August 18th we are inviting all freshmen and new students to orientation at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. Parents and students will hear a short informative presentation on high school highlights. Students will then get a tour of the building from Senior Ambassadors as they get their schedule. Parents will stay in the auditorium for a different presentation and a Q and A with administration. If you are unable to attend Senior Ambassadors will be available on Aug 20 and 23 from 8AM to 2PM for students and families to tour the building and their schedule. We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday evening.
Immunization for Seniors:
Seniors must have the Meningococcal vaccination before they can report to school. This is a requirement. Students who return without the vaccination will be sent home until they can provide documentation to Nurse Kelly. If you have questions please contact her at: email@example.com
A change for the 21-22 school year is Connections will only meet on Mondays. We have added time to each class. This will allow for reteaching to happen during the class time and will no longer require students to wait for reteaching opportunities. Reassessment will be on T/TH afterschool, this will allow for more time in the classroom to fully understand outcomes and components.
Seniors who are enrolled in IWCC online or in person classes can pick up their Chromebook on August 16 and 17th. The HS office is open from 8-4 each day for pick up. Whatever was turned in at the end of last year is what will be returned for the beginning of this year. For example if a student did not turn in a charger it will not be replaced until the replacement fee is paid in full.
