8^TH GRADE SCHOOL SUPPLIES LIST for 2007-2008

Mr. Kentfield's Organizational Tips...

Each student organizes themselves differently. What may work for one student, may not work for another. Here are some of the organizational ideas that we have seen help students:

	Some students use two binders, an a.m. one and a p.m. one to organize their classes.
	A pencil pouch to keep all writing utensils helps students get to class prepared.
	Students may use Trappers. However, sometimes these just "trap" and don't really help the student. (for some a trapper is great!)
	Expanding-type folders help students keep each class separated.
	Use of the school-provided student agenda is critical but, only if they fill it out and bring it home.
	Color coding classes with notebooks and binders helps as well.

Usual supplies of pencils, blue or black ink ballpoint pens (no colored gel pens for class work please) paper, notebook or "trapper" or pocket folder for each subject.

TEXT BOOKS WILL NEED TO BE COVERED – WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE USE PAPER SACKS FOR THIS. DO NOT PURCHASE THE CLOTH COVERS AS THEY DO NOT PROTECT THE BOOKS AS WELL.

Reading

	Wide-lined spiral ring notebook
	Blue or black ink ballpoint pen

English

	3-ring binder, ½" or 1" rings
	Dividers for binder - at least 3
	Loose-leaf paper for binder
	1 set of colored 3 X 5 index cards
	6 - #2 Pencils
	6 Blue or black ink ballpoint pens
	6 Red pens
	3 Hi-Lighters
	Pencil pouch with 3 hole punch

Science

	Spiral notebook
	One 2 pocket folder
	Pencil
	Blue ink ballpoint pen

History

	Spiral notebook
	Blue or black ink ballpoint pen

Chorus/ General Music

	Wide lined spiral ring notebook
	One 2 pocket folder
	Pencil

Family & Consumer Science

Students in Family Consumer Science will be making pillows later in the year. A list of necessary fabric and supplies will need to be purchased at a later date. A list will be sent home closer to the time these will be made.

Physical Education-

Each student will need the following for "dress-out" clothes. Except for shoes, these clothing items will be separate from clothing worn to school.

	Rubber soled shoes
	Shorts or sweatpants
	T-shirt or sweatshirt
	Socks

Every student will develop the skills to be an independent, cooperative, respectful citizen with a positive attitude.
