Currently
a new textbook costs the school between $45.00 and $60.00.
It is therefore imperative that students take good care of the books
issued to them. Students must cover
each of their textbooks with a book cover.
Any reasonable paper cover, including newspaper or paper sack will be
acceptable. Students
are responsible to pay fines for upkeep on schoolbooks due to misuse.
All students are required to pay for any lost textbook assigned to them. TEXTBOOK FEES Glenwood
Community School District students in grades kindergarten through twelfth, are
required to pay a $28.00 textbook fee at the time of fall registration.
The maximum K-12 textbook fee per family is $84.00 payable at any
building. In
fairness to all patrons of the Glenwood District, the following guidelines will
be used to collect the 2005-2006 textbook fee.
The
Glenwood Community School District truly understands the financial restraints
placed upon families and are therefore more than willing to work with anyone who
would like to set up a payment plan. Please
visit with one of the building principals by September 16.
Textbook fees will be waived for families approved for free student
meals. The yearly textbook fee per child of families who qualify for
reduced-priced student meals will be $14.00. OTHER MIDDLE SCHOOL FEES AND REQUIRED SCHOOL SUPPLIES Along
with their annual $28.00 textbook fee, Glenwood Middle school students will be
expected to provide their own general school supplies--paper, pencils, pens, and
rulers, and so on. Some teachers may require
specific items such as notebooks, note cards, colored pencils or markers, art
pads, etc., however, each teacher will let his/her students know what they will
need. A school supply list
will also be posted in the building during summer registration or parents may
call the office for information. Eighth grade students in Family and Consumer Science (home
economics) will be expected to purchase sewing supplies as need.
Most family and consumer science supplies and projects can be purchased
for under $25.00 per year. Again,
the teacher will advise. All
students will be required to take their daily planners to all classes every day.
(Planners
are provided by the school.)
Students renting school-owned band instruments will be charged $25.00 per
quarter for wind instruments and $10.00 per quarter for percussion
instruments. Students who have their own instrument, but who also play a school
owned, wind instrument, will not be charged a usage fee, however, any repairs
incurred while the instrument is in the student's possession will be the
student's responsibility. Instrument
fees are due at the beginning of each quarter or the student pay may the entire
year’s fee when he/she registers. Middle school students may purchase a $35.00 activity ticket that will admit them to any HOME event with the exception of some athletic tournaments and fundraising events. Middle school students are NOT REQUIRED to purchase an activity ticket. Student admission at the door for a middle school athletic event is $3.00 for a high school athletic event. Tournament and fundraiser prices will vary. Student admission to a middle school game will be determined before our first event. Fines will also be assessed for
damage to any school owned property, including, but not limited to, equipment, lockers,
books and vehicles.
