Parents & Students

Each student will be assigned a locker for the storage of books, school related materials and outdoor garments.  Ownership of the locker is maintained by the school district.  The student is granted limited use of the locker.  Use only the locker assigned to you.  Do not tamper or look through any locker not assigned to you.

Students are asked to collect materials for their morning classes from their lockers before first hour and not return to their lockers until lunch unless they have band, P.E., or a teacher’s permission.   Likewise, after lunch, students are asked to collect all materials for their afternoon classes and not return to lockers unless they have band, P.E., or a teacher’s permission.  Gym and book bags are to kept in lockers and not carried between classes unless the student is going to P.E.

The school district reserves the right to inspect the contents of any locker at any time if suspicion arises of any  violation of policies or regulations.  (Please also see Locker Searches.)  School personnel reserve the right to judge things that may be offensive or detrimental to the mission of the middle school and these things will be removed from lockers.  The following are unacceptable and will not be permitted:

1.  Stickers, writing, or any permanent decoration.
2.  Any decoration on the outside of the locker.
3.  Pictures or posters promoting tobacco, alcohol, illegal substances, or sexual nature.
4.  Pictures or posters of an offensive or inappropriate nature.

The principal reserves the right to determine what is inappropriate and what is not.

Combination locks may be acquired from the principal’s office for a $5.00 deposit fee.  The deposit will be refunded at the end of the school year upon return of the lock.  Students may also use their own lock from home but must give the office a key or combination to the lock.  It is the student’s responsibility to keep lockers neat, locked and combinations confidential.   FINES WILL BE ASSESSED FOR DAMAGE TO LOCKERS.

LOCKER SEARCHES

School officials may periodically inspect all or a randomly selected number of lockers without prior notice. Any inspection of lockers shall only occur either in the presence of the student(s) whose lockers are being inspected or in the presence of at least one other person.  A locker inspection may be accomplished by using such methods including, but not limited to, a visual search of lockers by school officials or the use by school officials or others hired at their direction, of a drug sniffing animal.

Every student will develop the skills to be an independent, cooperative, respectful citizen with a positive attitude.
