After
school, middle school students who do not ride a regular route and who live in
the northeast section of town, may get on any of the buses, except the shuttle,
and ride to the high school. A
shuttle bus will be provided to West Elementary for students living in
that part of town. There will be no
shuttle bus going directly to the Northeast Elementary in the afternoons.
Students living in the vicinity of Northeast Elementary will need to ride
one of the buses to the high school and walk home from there. Before
school, students will wait outside the middle school building until 8:06.
Eighth graders will wait near the east door and seventh graders will wait
near the west door. During inclement weather, students will be allowed to enter
the building and go directly to the auditorium until 8:06.
Students will then go to their lockers to collect their morning supplies
and then onto their respective first period class. SCHOOL BUS REGULATIONS The bus driver is in charge of both the passengers and the bus. He or she is to be obeyed promptly and cheerfully. Unnecessary conversation with the driver is prohibited. Riders must be on time. The bus cannot wait beyond its regular schedule for those who are tardy. Remain a safe distance away from the roadway especially as the bus approaches the stop area. Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the door is open before moving towards the bus. Students crossing a roadway to board the bus should always wait until the signal to cross is given by the driver. Be sure to wait and look both ways before crossing. There should be no pushing or rushing to be the first on the bus. Wait your turn. While on the bus, classroom conduct must be observed except for ordinary conversation. No "horseplay" will be permitted. Students must remain seated while the bus is in motion. When preparing to exit from the bus, remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop. Students who must cross the roadway after exiting the bus are not to cross directly in front of the bus. This makes it difficult for the driver to see the student crossing. Walk at least 10 feet ahead of the bus so the driver can see you and so you can also clearly see and hear both ways. Proceed across the roadway when it is clear and safe to do so. REMEMBER, ALWAYS CROSS IN FRONT OF THE BUS AND NEVER BEHIND IT. Do not trust the red flashing lights and extended stop-arm to stop traffic. There are always a few careless motorists who disobey the law and go around a stopped bus. Always play it safe! Always be careful! Any damage to a bus by a student must be paid for by the student responsible.
