New Staff

Here are the new faces in the High School for the 2007-2008 school year.  Some of them are moving from another building in the district to the high school while others are moving from other communities, other states and even another country.

Principal
Ms. Abler
Language Arts

Ms. Abler's family moved to Glenwood from Williamsburg, IA. She taught in Williamsburg for 7 years.  At Glenwood, she will be teaching AP English, Modern Literature, English 10, and Yearbook
Ms. Tejedor
Foreign Language

Ms. Tejedor is from Spain. She was hired by the Iowa Department of Education and that is how we found her. She has never been to Iowa or the US! She will be teaching Spanish I and Spanish IV at the high school.
Mr. Buthe
Physical Education & Special Education

Mr. Buthe was working at Boy’s Town in Sioux City, and he also coached wrestling in Sioux City. He is considered as a first year teacher and his teaching duties will include co-teaching in a variety of math and science classes and teaching one PE class. Mr. Buthe will also be coaching Wrestling.
Ms. Christiansen
Agriculture Education

Ms. Christiansen is a first year teacher.  She student taught in Harlan and coached softball in Dunlap.  Ms. Christiansen will be teaching the Agriculture Science classes and be the FFA sponsor.
Mr. Dosen
Art

Mr. Dosen is a veteran teacher from AHST.  He will be teaching the art classes and be the NAHS sponsor.
Ms. Forman
Special Education

Ms. Forman is a Glenwood resident, with two students at GCHS. She is also a first year teacher (although it sure doesn’t seem like it since she has been in the building a lot as a substitute teacher). Ms. Forman duties will include co-teaching in a variety of reading and social studies classes and Special Ed. reading.
Ms. Hundt
Language Arts

Ms. Hundt has been at the Glenwood Middle School for the past two years. Prior to that she taught at Abraham Lincoln in Council Bluffs. At the high school level, she will be teaching Reader’s Workshop, English 9, English 10, and Journalism.
Ms. Lewis
Science

Ms. Lewis has taught at the Glenwood Middle School for the past 5 years. Prior to that she was at Omaha Gross High School in Omaha, NE. Her teaching duties at the high school will include Biology classes and Anatomy and Physiology classes.
Mr. Loeffelbein
Mathematics

Mr. Loeffelbein has been at the Glenwood Middle School for the past 5 years. Prior to that he was a math consultant for AEA13. Mr. Loeffelbein will teach General math, problem solving, Applied Algebra I and II, and Algebra at the high school. His coaching duties include 8th grade football and girl’s basketball.
Ms. McIntosh
Social Studies

Ms. McIntosh is a new teacher to the profession.  She is coming to us from eastern Iowa. At Glenwood, she will be teaching World History, Psychology, and American Social Issues.  And since we know that new teachers don't have enough to do, she will also be sponsoring cheerleading.
Mr. Van Kley
Science

Mr. Van Kley has been with the Denison school district where he taught and coached for the past 3 years. He got an early start in Glenwood by attending some of the open gym sessions and preparing for the new Introductory Engineering course called "Project Lead The Way".  He also is a newlywed.  Mr. Van Kley will teach Biology, Project Lead the Way, and Chemistry classes as well as coaching football, basketball, and baseball.
