Senior Alden W. has signed a letter of intent to attend Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. He intends to complete in Cross Country and Track at Concordia University.
After two hard fought defeats to Atlantic (49-61) and Lewis Central (55-70) the JV boys responded by beating a solid Denison team. In the Atlantic game the Rams where paced by Cory S with 13 points and Taylor K with 11 points. During the Lewis Central game Josh M. had the hot hand with a season high 24 points while Cole D added 10 points.
In the season finale the Rams where slow getting out of the gates getting down by as many as 11 points before getting a huge spark off the bench by Grant L. and Ryan S.. The second half the Rams played better team basketball and converted on free throws down the stretch to pull out an eleven point victory 60 -49. The Rams lead in scoring by Cory S. and Taylor K. each with 15 points. For the season the Rams JV finished 8-12 the team members are as follows: Andrew C., Grant L., Josh M., Taylor L., Ryan S., Josh D., Cole D., Dustin B., Taylor K., Nate L., Drake R., Cory S., and Aaron W.
Congratulations and Good Luck to the 4 state qualifiers:
- 112 Steve G.
- 171 Joey B.
- 189 Andrew D.
- 215 Jason L.
These four will be competing to take home a state medal in Des Moines starting Thursday morning. Congratulations and Good Luck.
The JV basketball team lost its final game to Atlantic Friday night 42-30. The Lady Rams played well enough to win, but just couldnt get the ball to go in the basket. Chelsea K. played only the first two quarters, but led the team with 9 points. Lydia S. and Cassie S. added 6 points each.
Thursday night Denison came to Glenwood for its make-up game. The JV girls battled hard and trailed by 4 after one-quarter. The Lady Monarchs heated up and opened up a 15-point halftime lead. The game ended with Denison winning by that same margin 54-39. Chelsea K. dominated during her 3 quarters of play, scoring 19 points. Lydia S. added 8 points for the Lady Rams.
The JV team ended with a record of 10 wins and 11 losses.
Over the weekend the Glenwood Lady Rams JV team grabbed two wins on the road.
Friday night the girls jumped out to a 12-0 lead against Creston thanks to an aggressive press and some hot shooting. Tori K. led the Rams out of the gate with 3 three pointers in the first half. Chelsea K. was the high scorer with 18 points in her 3 quarters of play. Cassie S. and Rachel M. added 9 and 8 points respectively for Glenwood as the Lady Rams dominated Creston 53-34.
On Saturday Glenwood traveled to St. Albert in CB. The Lady Rams led all the way but couldnt shake loose as the game went down to the final minute. Glenwood held on to win 43 37. Tori K. played only two quarters, but led the Lady Rams with 12 points. Cassie S. chipped in 8 points for Glenwood.
The JV team has 10 wins and 9 losses on the season.
The boys JV finish one and one the first weekend in February. On Friday Feb. 1st the Rams avenged a previous loss over Creston with a 63- 54 victory in overtime. Playing great team basketball the Rams closed an 8 point deficit behind stingy defense and the hot hand of Josh D. The Rams carried the defensive intensity into overtime by only allowing Creston two points while putting the game out of reach with good ball control and solid free throw shooting. Leading scorers for the game include Josh D. with 23 and Cory S. with 15.
After a hard fought victory on Friday night the JV returned to action on Saturday afternoon traveling to Council Bluffs to take on a tough St. Alberts team. However, this time the Rams could not make a comeback after allowing St. Alberts to get out to an early lead. St. Alberts continued to control the game throughout and won 78-45. Despite the setback the boys are looking ahead to the upcoming week and games at Denison and then home against Atlantic. Leading scorers for Saturdays action: Nate L. with 12 and Josh M. with 10 points.

Glenwood got their second conference win this week in a battle with Shenandoah, boosting our conference record to 2-0, and overall record to 3-2. The entire varsity roster contributed to the win, including sophomore Katie L., who in her first varsity match got a kill and a block! Glenwood servers were on fire, and were able to shake the confidence of the Fillies, and our offense came in to finish the job with 13 total kills. The Rams play this weekend in Shenandoah.
