Detentions are way down, compliance with our rules is way up, attitudes are very good, kids are in class involved and learning, we are off to a great start this year as far as I can tell. We had a great student body supporting our volleyball team as they defeated Harlan in a great “come from behind” finish Tuesday night. The coaches and players did a terrific job! Our cross country teams are doing well. Winning isn’t everything, but it certainly is good for the spirit in a high school. I encourage all parents, students and fans to come and support as many of our activities as possible. The kids really appreciate our people caring enough to be there cheering them on.
We are off to a very good start this year. We seem to have a large number of freshmen and sophomores in the north hall, and it is really crowded, but the behavior has been very good. The students have been very respectful at the pep rallies and the participation is much better than it has been in past years. We have a few new rules in place and the student body seems to be following them very well. The students seem to like the changes we are making, the atmosphere is good, and attitudes are good. We intend to continue to build on the enthusiasm we are currently seeing until we are the outstanding school that we want to be. We want all students to be proud of being a part of GHS.
