AXA Achievement Scholarship – This scholarship is for students who set and reach ambitious goals, demonstrate drive, determination and ability to succeed in college and who have respect for self, family and community.  Go to www.axa-achievement.com for an application.

2009 Youth Scholarship Program, for Young People who are Cancer Patients/Survivors—The American Cancer Society – Eligibility guidelines are a follows:  Must have been diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21; Must be under 25 at the time of application; Must be a legal resident of Iowa for at least one year; Must be accepted to attend an accredited 2-4 year university or vocational/technical school; Must complete the application process and Must provide EFC, page 3 of application, or enter n/a if not applicable.

University of Iowa, Strayer-Rairden Scholarship in Physics – Student must be from Iowa; have applied for admission to The University of Iowa and declared physics or astronomy as their major; have taken the
Drake Physics Prize Examination.

McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship – To qualify:  be a graduate in the spring of 2009; attend a 4-year college within the 50 states; own and operate a genuine business, non-profits are eligible; have at least one paid employee.  Go to www.mckelveyfoundation.org.

Grand Lodge Scholarship – A broad-based criteria is used in the selection process.  The principal criterion is service to school and community with special emphasis upon leadership roles in these areas.  Applicant’s academic record, communication skills, and need for financial assistance are also considered.  Applications are available in the counseling center.

Iowa Newspaper Foundation Scholarship – The Iowa Newspaper Foundation scholarship is available for students preparing for a newspaper career. Applications available in the counseling center or you can go to www.inanews.com/inf/scholarships.php.

2009 Iowa Farm Bureau Scholarship – Students parents must be a Mills County Farm Bureau member in order to qualify.  Application available in the counseling center or go to the Iowa College Student Aid Commission website: http://www.iowacollegeaid.gov/commissioncentral/schgrants/sch.html

Offutt Enlisted Spouses Club Scholarship – OESC will be awarding scholarships in 2009 to dependents of active duty, retired or deceased enlisted military personnel residing in Mills and Pottawattamie Counties in Iowa.  Applicant must be on track to graduate in 2009 and have at least a ‘C’ average.  See counseling center for an application.

Metro Omaha Chapter/Oncology Nursing Society – Two $500 nursing scholarships to be awarded to area high school seniors planning to pursue a career in nursing.  To be eligible: must be a senior planning to be enrolled for fall 2009 at an accredited nursing program.  Special consideration will be given to students with an interest or special commitment to Oncology Nursing; GPA 3.25 or higher; actively participate in both school and community.  Applications in counseling center.

The Principal IT Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to four graduating high school seniors who are planning to pursue a degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, Computer Programming or a related field. Metro Omaha Builders Association, Women’s Council, Scholarship Award Program – Any Jr. or Sr. female who has taken or is currently enrolled in design courses, home economics, industrial education, or architectural curriculums.  She must also plan to continue her education in the home building industry, architecture, Real Estate, or Interior Design, and will enroll in the future as a full-time college student.  This scholarship involves a project…get more details in the counseling center.

The BigSun Scholarship – The Big Sun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. The University of Iowa—Pearl Hull Faulk Scholarship – This Scholarship was established under the Last Will & Testament of Mrs. Faulk to provide annual scholarships to needy and worthy students attending the University of Iowa.  Student must be of the Protestant faith.  All recipients must be of good character and have a good scholastic record.
