This preschool is a full-day, free preschool for children who are four years of age on or before September 15th of the current year and who meet income eligibility requirements or secondary risk factors. The program is also open to other tuition paying children in our community if space is available. Classes meet four days a week from 8:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. Glenwood Community School District receives a grant from the Department of Education to fund this program to provide comprehensive developmental services for children and their families. It is the preschool staff's responsibility to provide a safe, nurturing, and responsive setting for children and their families. The preschool staff is committed to supporting each child's development by helping children live and work cooperatively, by promoting their self-esteem, and by providing support for their families. Parent/family involvement, health and safety, medical/dental services, nutrition services, developmentally appropriate programming, and human services make up the developmental services that Glenwood Community School District will strive to provide to four year old children in our community. This program follows the High/Scope Curriculum, the same hands-on, developmental approach through active learning as the Special Education Community Based Preschool. An environment rich in materials and experiences enables children to learn at their own developmental age level.
