GRADING SCALE
REPORTING PUPIL PROGRESS Reporting pupil progress is the result of daily evaluation of your child. Report cards will be given to parents at the fall conferences and sent home with the students after the second, third, and fourth quarters. Another method of reporting pupil progress is through student portfolios. These are collections of your child's written products and contain first drafts as well as refined pieces. The portfolios will include student's work throughout the entire year and will show his/her growth over time. Parents may review their child’s portfolio at anytime. HOMEWORK Teachers assign homework, extra class activities or assignments as necessary. Homework is an opportunity for students to practice skills and activities, share and discuss ideas/work with their parents, review materials, become acquainted with resources, organize thoughts, prepare for classroom activities or make up incomplete class work. Students are expected to complete homework on time. Failure to complete homework may result in loss of grade and a failing grade in the class. CHEATING Students are expected to do their own schoolwork. Cheating by looking at another student’s schoolwork, copying others’ work, copying from other sources, etc. is not tolerated. In addition to the discipline outlined in the code of conduct of this handbook, discipline may include the loss of grade. STANDARDIZED TESTS Students are given a standardized test annually. This test is used to determine academic progress for individual students, for groups of students and for the school district. Students are tested unless they are excused by the principal or according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). |
